Why We Started
For over 30 years Matt & Beth have been the caregivers for their handicapped son. They've had to deal with companies that provided caregivers & nurses that were unreliable and unskilled. That's why they created Great Lakes Home Care Unlimited 10 years ago. They knew others deserved better care and to be treated like family. To ensure this, we only hire the highest quality caregivers & nurses. We have staff available for a variety of shifts, from 4 hours to 24 hours, making sure someone is there to care for your loved one. Our caregivers & nurses have up-to-date training, and we only send qualified employees to your home, making sure they are taken care of the best way possible.
Our expansive list of services includes smaller tasks like laundry and house cleaning to more skilled tasks such as wound and vent care. We understand how important these tasks are to help someone with their daily living and make their life easier. We also have experience in Alzheimer's & Dementia care, we work with you to establish a safe and more comfortable environment, trusting relationships, and techniques to maximize independence for as long as possible for those with the disease. Finally, we have experience with spinal cord injuries & central nervous system disorders, along with the care those clients require.

Matt started the company with his wife, Elizabeth, in 2011. They decided to start their own company after caring for their son, who was involved in a car accident at age two, to provide the high-quality care they wanted for him to others. In his free time Matt enjoys fishing and relaxing at his cottage.
Director of Operations
Beth was born and raised in Dearborn Michigan. She has lived in Midland with her husband and business partner Matt, for 14 years and has 3 children--Andray, Melanie and Matthew. She has worked in Home Care for 25 years, first as an LPN night nurse with her son for 16 years and then as the Director of Operations at GLHCU for 9 years. Her inspiration for doing what she does comes from having a son who has had Home Care for 27 years and wanting other people to have the best care in their homes as well.
Loretta is our office manager and is responsible for making sure our day-to-day operations are running smoothly. She also assists with getting aid and attendance care set up for all of our veterans or assessment for other clients. She will be the one to contact if you have any questions or concerns about the staff or office. In her free time, Loretta is often volunteering since she is the volunteer coordinator of the Midland County Toys for Tots. When she has some downtime she is at home with her two lovely kids (one boy and one girl).
Registered Nurse Supervisor
Vicki is our team's nursing supervisor. She is in charge of assessing all of our caregivers and making sure we are providing them with up-to-date knowledge and training. She also evaluates all of our client's plans of care to make sure they are updated regularly and that our clients get the best care possible. Finally, she handles any medical-related questions our staff or clients may have. In her free time, Vicki is often volunteering across the Tri-Cities (Midland, Bay City, Saginaw) or she can be seen helping out her son at Beer and Brats.
Scheduling & HR
Megan is our main scheduler who assists with human resources activities as well. She is the primary contact when it comes to scheduling changes and often the one who answers questions our clients or caregivers may have about their schedules. Megan likes to travel and paint in her spare time but is more often seen out photographing. She also has two cats whom she loves named Padme and Penny.
HR & Scheduling
Karen plays a flexible role at Great Lakes Home Care Unlimted. She assists both Megan and Katonha with HR and scheduling needs. She does what she can to make sure our clients are getting high-quality care whether it be assisting with their schedule or finding the right candidates to assists with their needs. Karen lives with her husband Doug on a hobby farm and has three grown children. In her free time, she enjoys camping, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
HR & Scheduling
Katonha plays a flexible role at GLHCU assisting with both human resources and scheduling. Her main focus is making sure our caregivers are top-notch and handles their reviews and communication needs from clients/scheduling to the caregiver. She also assists the rest of the team in making sure all of our clients' and caregivers' scheduling needs are met. In her free time, Katonha likes to garden and spend time helping others in any way she can.
HR & Scheduling
Melinda, similar to Karen, plays a flexible role in assisting with HR and scheduling. She applies her own experience and knowledge as a caregiver/shift lead to her work which has been vital in providing assistance not only to our clients but also our caregivers. She moved here from California in 2016 with her husband Brian. They have 6 grown children and soon to be 24 grandchildren. In her free time, Melinda loves fishing and the weather changes here in beautiful Michigan.
